About the Winery

With roots dating back to 1850, the Sazerac Company was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, with the opening of the historic Sazerac Coffee House in Exchange Alley. It was there that the Sazerac cocktail, considered the first trademarked cocktail in the United States, was popularized, made with rye whiskey, Peychaud's Bitters, and Herbsaint. Today, the company produces its signature Sazerac Rye in Kentucky, combining customary distillation methods with extended aging in new American oak barrels. True to its heritage, each bottle maintains the robust character, aromatic complexity, and cultural connection that have made Sazerac a symbol of New Orleans' liquor history.
