Founded in 1890 in the emblematic Haro neighborhood, La Rioja Alta S.A. is one of the most prestigious historic wineries in Spain and a true benchmark in the production of great wines for aging under the D.O.Ca. Rioja. Since its inception, the winery has maintained a philosophy based on excellence, tradition, and patience, producing wines that stand out for their elegance, longevity, and aromatic complexity.

The winery primarily grows Tempranillo, Graciano, Garnacha, and Mazuelo from its own vineyards located in the best areas of Rioja Alta. Its winemaking process combines traditional techniques with oenological innovations, and aging is carried out exclusively in American oak barrels made in its own cooperage.

The Gran Reserva 890, produced only in exceptional vintages, represents the pinnacle of the winemaking mastery of the house. What flavor awaits me?

Appearance
Medium-high ruby red color with brick-red hues on the rim, reflecting its long aging and excellent evolution. Bright and clean, with fine, slow tears.

Nose
Complex and seductive, with a perfect integration of fruit and oak. Aromas of ripe red and black fruits, prunes, and cherries in liqueur, accompanied by elegant notes of tobacco, cigar box, sweet spices (cinnamon, clove, vanilla), and a balsamic background with hints of fine leather and damp earth.

Palate
Smooth and silky entry that gives way to a structured and balanced wine. Fine, ripe tannins, lively acidity that provides freshness, and an aromatic development at the retronasal level marked by spices, stewed fruit, and mineral touches. Very long and harmonious finish, with a persistence reminiscent of the great Riojas for aging.
