About the Winery

Jean Leon is much more than a winery: it is the legacy of Jean Leon (born Ceferino Carrión), a visionary from Cantabria who emigrated to the United States and ended up founding one of Hollywood's most famous restaurants in the 1950s. There, he forged friendships with personalities such as James Dean and Marilyn Monroe and became obsessed with an idea: to create a wine in Spain that could compete with the great French wines.

In 1963, he founded his winery in the heart of Alt Penedès, where he pioneered the introduction of international varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay when no one else in the area did. He focused on estate wines, the identity of the terroir, and precision viticulture.

The wine from Finca Jean Leon Vinya Le Havre is a clear example of this philosophy: a single plot, low yields, aging in oak barrels, and a personality that reflects both the spirit of Bordeaux and the elegance of Penedès. Since 1994, the winery has been part of the Torres Family, who have continued its legacy with the same respect for authenticity, time, and history.
