About the Winery

Jean Leon was no ordinary winemaker. He was an indomitable dreamer who left his native Santander to conquer Hollywood and, later, revolutionize the Penedès region.

In the 1960s, he founded a winery with a pioneering vision: to produce signature wines with international varieties and absolute respect for the terroir. Jean Leon didn't just found a winery. He founded a style.

His friendship with celebrities like James Dean and Marilyn Monroe took a backseat when he decided to plant the first Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay vineyards in Spain, anticipating the future of Spanish wine.

Today, the Jean Leon winery remains true to its philosophy: wines with their names, authentic stories, and unique personalities. Vinya Gigi, planted in 1967 and dedicated to his daughter, is the most delicate and pure expression of his legacy: a Chardonnay with a Burgundian soul, barrel-aged and grown with certified organic practices.

Appearance
Bright golden yellow color with greenish reflections. Clean, bright, and elegant in the glass.

Nose
Great aromatic intensity, with notes of ripe white fruit (pear, baked apple), candied citrus, and a creamy background with nuances of vanilla, nuts, and toast, derived from its barrel aging.

Palate
Fully enveloping on the palate. Honeyed notes and a perfect balance of freshness and smoothness are perceived. Its acidity is very well integrated, providing structure and tension. The finish is long, mineral, and elegant, with hints of butter and dried fruits.
