Traditional fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Aged for 20 months in new fine-grain French oak barrels. Natural clarification and unfiltered bottling to preserve its most refined feeling.

About the Winery

Bodegas Izadi was founded in 1987 in the heart of Rioja Alavesa, in Villabuena de Álava, with a clear philosophy: to merge Rioja winemaking customs with a contemporary and gastronomic approach. Its name, Izadi, means "Nature" in Basque, and reflects the deep respect for the environment, the vineyards, and the identity of each plot.

Since its inception, Izadi has been characterized by working with old vines located on hillsides and small terraces, many of them planted in bush-like vines, with low yields but of the most elevated quality. The winery focuses on detailed winemaking, with gentle fermentations, aging in French and American barrels, and careful selection that seeks fine, elegant, and deeply expressive wines.

The unique vineyard "El Regalo"
El Regalo is one of Izadi's jewels: a vineyard classified as a Unique Vineyard by the Regulatory Council of the D.O.Ca. Rioja. This classification requires a minimum of 35 years of age (El Regalo is over 60), absolute traceability, and proven quality.

Located high on a hill, on poor, wind-exposed clay-limestone soils, this vineyard produces Tempranillo grapes of remarkable concentration and freshness. Vinification is carried out with the utmost respect for the terroir, ensuring that each vintage is a true reflection of the plot.

What flavor awaits me?

Appearance:
Deep ruby red with garnet reflections. Bright, with a medium-high depth and dense tears, anticipating structure and concentration.

Nose:
High aromatic intensity. Ripe black fruit (plums, blackberries, cherries in liqueur) is present in the foreground, escorted by balsamic notes, licorice, and subtle toasted notes. As it opens, aromas of sweet spices (cinnamon, cloves), blond tobacco, fine cocoa, and a delicate mineral and earthy background emerge.

Palate:
Enveloping and graceful entry. Firm yet polished tannins are perfectly integrated with the acidity. The mid-palate is full, silky, and balanced. Flavors of ripe black fruit, notes of fine leather, graphite, and a subtle salinity stand out. The finish is long, with a lavish aromatic persistence and a very subtle smoky touch that invites you to continue drinking.
