Formiga de Vellut is a standout wine from the Priorat region of Catalonia, Spain, produced by the Domini de la Cartoixa winery. This wine is made from a careful selection of grape varieties such as Grenache , Carignan , and Syrah . The Grenache contributes red fruit aromas and a smooth texture, the Carignan contributes structure and acidity, and the Syrah adds complexity with its notes of black fruits and spices.

Formiga de Vellut is aged for approximately 12 months in French oak barrels, which gives it greater complexity and smoothness, integrating the fruit flavours with the subtle notes of wood. This wine has a deep ruby red colour with violet reflections, intense aromas of ripe fruit, spices and a mineral touch. On the palate, it is well-structured and balanced, with soft tannins and a fresh acidity, offering flavours of red and black fruits, spices and oak, culminating in a long and persistent finish.
