D.O.Q. Priorat
Ferrer Bobet Vinyes Velles 2020
- Origin and D.O.
Ferrer Bobet Vinyes Velles 2020 is made from grapes grown on steep slopes and slate terraces, featuring Priorat's characteristic llicorella soils. The landscape, steep slopes, and mineral nature of these soils are essential elements in shaping the wine's personality.
The vineyards' location in one of the highest and coolest areas of Priorat encourages slow, gradual ripening and helps preserve freshness, aromas, and acidity.
- Grape varieties
72% Carignan · 28% Grenache. The official technical sheet for the 2020 vintage confirms this blend, with Carignan clearly taking the lead. The result combines ripe fruit, freshness, structure, and minerality, with an elegant and profound profile that reflects the distinctive character of Priorat's slate soils.
- Winemaking and aging
The grapes are harvested by hand into small 10 kg crates. At the winery, they undergo a rigorous double sorting-table selection, where the berries are carefully selected before being transferred to the tanks by gravity. Fermentation takes place in small 15 and 30 hl wooden and stainless-steel tanks, allowing the different vineyard plots to be vinified separately.
Following malolactic fermentation, Ferrer Bobet Vinyes Velles 2020 is aged for 15 months in fine-grained, lightly toasted French oak barrels. It is then bottled without fining or filtration and undergoes a minimum of 18 months of bottle aging before release.
- Winery profile
Ferrer Bobet was founded in 2002 through the collaboration of Sergi Ferrer-Salat and Raül Bobet, brought together by their passion for wine and the extraordinary potential of Priorat's vineyards. The winery's philosophy is rooted in meticulous, respectful viticulture, complemented by precision winemaking. The winery was designed to operate entirely by gravity, from grape reception through to bottling, reducing unnecessary handling.
