  • The heritage of a secret formula since 1840
Chartreuse Jaune is born from the legendary Elixir Végétal, developed by Carthusian monks. This mellow and approachable yellow version was officially named “Chartreuse” in 1852 by Father Garnier, marking the beginning of a legacy.
  • A unique herbal liqueur with 130 botanicals
Crafted by hand by the Carthusian Order, Yellow Chartreuse blends more than 130 herbs, flowers, and spices. Sweeter and more spiced than the Green Chartreuse, its soft character captivates from the first sip.
  • Golden color and perfect balance
With a striking natural golden-yellow hue (no artificial coloring), this 43% ABV liqueur stands out for its harmony of sweetness, delicate herbs, spices, and a warm, contemplative finish.
  • Versatile and sophisticated
Perfect as a digestif, served neat with ice or mixed in classic cocktails like the “Yellow Bird” or “Alaska”, Yellow Chartreuse is a must-have in modern mixology and among collectors of historic spirits.
  • Secret production, limited availability
Only two monks know the complete recipe and process. To this day, it is produced exclusively at the Aiguenoire distillery in the French Alps, following original methods and rigorous quality control.

About the Winery

Chartreuse is made by the Carthusian monks (Les Pères Chartreux), a religious order founded in 1084, which guards one of the most enigmatic recipes in the world of liqueurs. Only two living monks know the exact formula, which contains 130 herbs, roots, flowers, and spices.

It is currently produced at the Aiguenoire distillery, in the heart of the French Alps, where the Carthusian monks continue to make the liqueur using classic methods, respecting a process of maceration, distillation, and aging that has kept their estate intact for centuries.

Nose
Soft yet intense aroma, with hints of honey, wildflowers, sweet spices (such as cinnamon and nutmeg), alpine herbs, and a light aniseed base.

Palate
