Born in the small village of Porrera, this wine carries the legacy of Celler Cal Pla, a family-run winery active since 1814. Cal Pla Negre, known in the U.S. as Mas d’en Compte Black Slate Porrera, embodies the spirit of the most authentic Priorat. - High-altitude grapes on llicorella
It is made from Garnacha, Cariñena, and Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from young vines planted 450 m above sea level on northwest-facing slate terraces (llicorella). The harvest is done by hand to ensure precise and prudent selection. - Artisanal vinification with balanced aging
After skin maceration and controlled fermentation in stainless steel, the wine is aged for 12 months in used French and American oak barrels. This aging process enhances structure without overpowering the fruit expression. - Vibrant and fresh sensory profile
Intense aromas of ripe black fruits — like plums, blackberries, and blueberries — are wrapped in subtle aged notes. On the palate, it’s fleshy and austere, with fine, well-integrated tannins. Its lively acidity and freshness make for a long and desirable finish. - For true Priorat seekers
