Balvenie Doublewood 12 años
- Origin & PDO
Speyside, Scotland — Controlled Designation of Origin. Located in the heart of Scotch whisky country, Speyside is renowned for elegant, complex single malts with great aromatic depth. The Balvenie honors this tradition with an unparalleled artisanal approach. - Varieties & Ingredients
100% barley malted in-house by the distillery itself. Unlike most modern distilleries, The Balvenie grows its own barley on its estates, ensuring quality and traceability from the source. - Production & Maturation
Carefully executed dual maturation: first in American oak ex-bourbon casks, adding soft, sweet notes of vanilla and honey; then, for 6 to 12 months, in European oak casks that previously held sherry, bringing intricacy, dried fruits, and a gentle spice. Each batch is aged a minimum of 12 years under the supervision of the Malt Master. - Distillery Profile
Founded in 1892 and still owned by the William Grant & Sons family, The Balvenie is one of the last Scottish distilleries to keep all key processes under one roof: barley cultivation, traditional floor malting, copper pot stills, and its own cooperage. The legendary Malt Master David Stewart, with over five decades of experience, guides the creation of every idiom with precision and artisanal sensitivity. - Special Details
Formulated using traditional methods rarely seen today: manual floor malting on stone floors, daily hand turning, slow distillation in narrow-necked stills, and precise cask selection by the expert team. Each bottle is individually numbered, reflecting a commitment to authenticity and traceability.
