About the Winery

Located in La Vilella Alta, in the heart of the Priorat D.O.Q., Bodegas Mas Alta was born in 1998, the fruit of the vision of Belgian Michel Vanhoutte and a group of wine enthusiasts. From its inception, the winery has been committed to a sustainable viticulture approach, working with old Garnacha and Carignan vines planted on the characteristic licorella soils, which give its wines a distinctive minerality.

The project is advised by renowned French winemaker Michel Tardieu, who brings his experience in the Rhône to enhance the balance between power and elegance. At Mas Alta, each plot is vinified separately and with minimal intervention, respecting the individuality of the vineyard and seeking to fully express the character of Priorat.

La Basseta is one of the house's flagship wines, appreciated for its delicacy within the region's typical intensity, and for its ability to reflect the perfect fusion of ripe fruit, minerality, and elegance.
